if so can you get the the router settings at http://192.168.1.1 (web browser)
ye i could ing it send 4 and recived 4 = 0 % loss

Linkage
I use this lots of times to fix problems matching what you describe
Download/Run
it will ask you to reboot, and voila your TCP/Winsock problems will be gone
And by the way, you dont have both a wireless and wired connection going to your router at the same time?
gonner try the winsock thingy now..
the wireless is deactivated atm anyways so it cant be that.. but its normally not a problem since it just runs smoothly when a DSL cable gets plugged into it

The next thing you should try is setting the ip on the laptop to be similar to one of the known working PCs
so if you run ipconfig /all on one of them copy over everything except the IP address into the ip settings of the laptop and increment the Address one. Given that you have a link sys router and 2 other machines the address you are likely to want is 192.168.1.103
instructions here
Try that and then the gateway ping again.
rgr did that and rebooting now.. the reg fix didten work btw to the poster above

Thats good, but can you ping out through your gateway
like
ping 194.125.133.10
and then does your DNS work
ping www.google.com
you should get ping 4 send and 4 recieved = 0 % loss
yep same results what does that tell you ?

Originally by: Gummi That means your internet (tcpip) is working as far as DNS/Routing etc goes
That rules out your router/your cable/ your network card etc
It could be just browser related now and the first thing to check is whether you have a proxy setting in your browser.
in IE its tool/ internet options/ connections / lan settings and make sure none are checked or just automatically detect settings is ticked
in Firefox its Tools/ Options / General / Connection settings and Direct Connection to the Internet should be selected.
If you get 0% loss on your pins and you dont have web its most likely either a proxy setting in the browser / a windows/norton/* firewall setting gone wrong.
i have currently this PC on the same router.. but it have never been a problem with having op to 3 PCs on this.. and i only have a windows firewall and NOD32 on "THIS PC" not the laptop.. so it cant really be a firewall problem ?

Its not your wiring, everything that you have told us so far leads us to believe your network is working and the problem lies with something on the os level.
Are you using any third party firewalls such as norton? And are you against the idea of removing norton if you do have it installed ?
Gummi hates Norton
only windows firewall and NOD32..
on the laptop i dont really see any firewalls or antivirus exept windows firewall

Ok thats good, what actually happens now when say if you go to www.google.com in your browser? Is it set 'online' and do you get any error messages in your browser?
Its really baffling that your network pings fine now but still your internet doesnt work.
Do you have eve installed on it? does it give you a connection to tq?
just says page cannot be found ( standard )
and nop messenger and eve dosent work either

use proxyserver for lan addrese: 217.xx.xx.x port:80
and then the ticker to use proxy server for internet addreses is not ticked
EDIT: It trys to connect to that IP when i click the IE.exe

Ok well first take note of it before you change it, and then enable proxy (tick the box) to allow you to change, remove all that info, and then disable the proxy again (no ticks in any boxes)
If it still tries to connect to the proxy then it could be that you have another proxy program running somewhere but we wont know until you try that.
well i aint able to change any of the Proxy settings on this profile.. and if i login as administrator.. they arent there and i still cant enter the internet.

Originally by: Wilhelm Beck I would try two things. The windows XP firewall should allow all traffic that is a response to a request back in, thus that should not be a problem here.
In the command prompt enter: nslookup google.com
This should give you a few IP addresses. Ping the first on in the list for google.com If you get no items you need to check DNS servers to your IP connection.
If you cannot nslookup google, you want to try to ping it any way. google runs at 64.233.167.99 for my part of the world try pinging that.
If you can ping the above address, you actually do have a connection to the web, but you do not have the ability to match domain names to IP addresses. This means you need to add some DNS Servers into your configuration. I would ping both of the servers you added earlier, this ensures that you can in fact connect to the servers and receive data back.
Since you can see the router admin page, you should also check to make sure that the router can see the outside world and that it has not blocked your ip/mac from acessing the outside world
i could infact ping the adresses i got from nslookup goggle.. so whats the next step ?

Originally by: Valeo Galaem Sounds like something might be blocking ports. What is the model of your Router?
Something else you can try:
telnet www.google.com 80 This will tell us if you can connect to a computer over port 80 (HTTP). If you get something along the lines of "Connection Successful" we are in good shape so far. Just close the window when you are done.
nop cant connect :/

Originally by: Wilhelm Beck The fact that you can ping google.com means you actually have a connection to the outside. Hooray!
Since you still cannot connect to google or eve something else is blocking your connection attempts.
I would also get rid of the proxy as well. Set the configuration to happen automatically in IE (tools-> internet options -> connections -> Lan settings)
The second suspect here is the windows firewall. Try disabling it briefly and seeing if you can get to the outside with it off. If it works with the firewall off you need to go in and configure the beast.
firewall off: didten change anything turned off the proxy aswell nothing

Originally by: Valeo Galaem If disabling the Windows firewall does not work, go to another computer on your LAN and connect to the router's settings web page. Look for anything that can configure port blocking. For some reason, your router might have been configured to block any HTTP connections from that computer.
tried putting the laptop on the streight line.. going outside the router.. still nothing.. damn this is weird

Originally by: Wilhelm Beck prior to connecting directly to the modem, did you set your configuration back to auto configure?
You may also need to install PPPoE to get that connection to work depending on how your modem works.
Depending on how comfortable you are with editing your router configuration, I would recommend going through and checking for blocks and removing any of them you find or flashing it back to default. Make sure that if you reset you go back in and reconfigure it, as well as change the admin password.
reset it no blocks... 2 PCS working and the damn laptop not.. and PPPoE wouldten that require me a username and a pass to "dial" op to ?
